InboxCupid has a fresh new take on online dating — but will you see results?
Not to sound stereotypical here, but I’m a girl who a) loves men and b) loves shopping. I think it would be safe to assume (full well knowing that ‘assuming’ makes asses out of u and me) that, if you’re reading LoveTrekker, you’ll probably feel the same. Well, what if you could subscribe to a website that melded these two ‘passions’ and upped the ante by including a deal of the day? Hell, who doesn’t love a sale?
Karreem Ahmed had an epiphany about our short attention span dating practices and – voila! – Inbox Cupid was born. The site promises to actually do the dirty work of seeking out matches for you. ”You can get exposed to a lot of people with doing a minimal amount of work,” the co-founder told Mashable.
In theory, you don’t really have to do anything. You subscribe, fill out the usual ‘what I’m looking for in love’ form and then you wait. What are you waiting for? It’s ingenious, really. In much the same way that Groupon or Lifebooker offers you a deal of the day straight to your personal email, Inbox Cupid sends you a daily date. If you like him, you pay $1 contact fee and message him. If he decides he doesn’t want to write back, you’ve lost a $1, but so what?
You can also choose to be the featured daily date yourself, and 15% of all Cupid subscribers do. Again, as with all things on this site, it’s quick, easy and painless. You simply fill out a simple five-item questionnaire with your age, name and occupation. You can choose from questions in the range of “Is sexual compatibility important to you?” to “If you won the lottery, how would you spend your millions?”
Although this dating deal site was only available in Minneapolis, Minnesota, until recently, it seems to have expanded in no time flat. That’s lucky for me, because I’m ready for some one-stop man shopping. I just have one request, m’kay? Please make sure he comes in a large.
